RISK OF THUNDERSTORMS, HEAVY RAIN & HAIL SHOWERS THIS WEEKEND


With a busy weekend coming up with first holy communions and confirmation here is your weather outlook for the weekend.

On Friday a heavy area of rain will sweep across the country and clear over Friday evening and night this is due to a area of low pressure which will move close to the northwest coast and then veer northwards on Saturday.

As this area of low pressure moves close to Ireland with it there will be unstable air over the country on Saturday which could trigger of a few thunderstorms. With any showers or thunderstorms that do develop there will be a risk of hail and spot flooding sue to how slow these showers will be moving.

Saturday will be a cool day across Ireland with temperature just below normal for the time of year. The day will see a mixture of sunny and brighter spells but heavy showers too of rain and some hail with the risk of thunderstorm forming in places over the day as there will be unstable air over the country. Spot flooding is possible anywhere these heavier showers or thunderstorms. temperatures will only range between 10C to 13C over the day. 

Showers will continue on Saturday night where perhaps a few coastal thunderstorms may kick of the northwest coast over the night Sunday morning. 

Further heavy showers but some brighter spell again on Sunday with only the slight risk of a odd isolated thunderstorm forming this mainly over eastern areas. Showers will fizzle out over the later afternoon. Temperatures will range between 10C to 15C

Clear conditions will develop over night especially across the north.
