Large Saharan dust cloud pushing up across Ireland today
You will notice hazy skies over the coming days starting from Tuesday as a large Saharan dust cloudy moves northwards all the way from Africa up across Ireland.
This cloud will be thicker than previous events and will leave a coating of dust on cars and other surfaces.
The above image shows an area of low pressure over the bay of biscay sending the cloud of Saharan dust northwards. The cloud is visible just to the south of Ireland on yesterdays satellite image.

Over the coming days this will also lead to some colourful sunsets and sunrises.
Another fact about Saharan dust is that it can also limit thunderstorm development and can enhance day time heating by keeping the skies dry and trapping hot air near the ground.
Saharan dust can absorb heat and reflect sunlight.
The weather is set to remain warm over the rest of this week and into the weekend with temperatures in the low to mid 20s with sunshine at times.
During the end of the weekend especially from Thursday into the weekend there will be a risk of some thunderstorms in places. Air quality will also be lower over the coming days with the increasing amount of dust in the air.
