This weekend is set to be warm with a mix of showers with some sunny spells at times. Some of the showers this weekend may be heavy at times especially on Sunday when there is some heavy downpours possible in places especially across the northwest and north of the country where there will also be the risk of isolated thunderstorms.

As we move into the early days of next week some showers are expected in places but alot of areas are also set to see a good deal of dry weather with the northwest, north and east seen a bulk of them showers through Monday. Tuesday will see alot of dry weather for many areas with mainly cloudy conditions, there will be the risk of some isolated showers in places on Tuesday with some patches of drizzle in a few places.

As we head into Wednesday there is now good cross model agreement from the ECMWF (European weather model) & GFS (American weather model) that high pressure will move northwards up from the Azores with a Azroes high sitting across Ireland later next week and over next weekend. This currently looks set to being settled weather across Ireland for the middle of July. The latest outlook from both models has the weather dry from Wednesday until next Sunday at least.

Forecast temperature Saturday the 10th of July until Sunday the 18th of July 2021

At the moment it also looks set to turn warm though the later stages of next week with temperatures around the mid week point in the low 20s. The last few ECMWF weather model runs shows the potential for temperatures next Thursday and Friday to range between 23C to 27C across parts of Ireland but at this range it still uncertain and can't be said for sure. As we move into next week the Ecmwf model also shows temperatures in the mid 20s again possilby rising as high as 26C to 28C in places. The GFS model also as temperatures rather warm at the end of next week rising between 20C to 24C and then a little warmer next weekend between 23C to 26C. There is some uncertainty yet at this range but the main thing is that there is good cross model agreement of higher pressure. The warmest weather this time around is also likely to be in the west, northwest, north and midlands as the airflow will be south to southeast.

After this point it is even more uncertain but one of outcomes could be a thundery, warm and humid breakdown with some very active thunderstorms before a breakdown of the higher pressure occurs. Make sure to keep a eye on our daily national weather forecast for the latest updates each day heading into the end of next week.

FARMING WEATHER

Just a note for farmers - Next Wednesday to at least next Sunday looks good and dry for much of the country. With warmer weather currently forecast it could spark of a shower or two during the evening time with the heat but overall the weather looks good for making hay.
