Ballymote & Sligo Fire crews rescue motorists on the Sooey to Geevagh road after flooding this morning

Sligo Council issued a warning to motorists this morning after severe flooding hit parts of the county

Our Ballymote & Sligo Fire crew are currently rescuing a motorist on the L5104 Sooey to Geevagh road. This road is very badly flooded and is CLOSED. Please avoid travel today if at all possible.

We are advising motorists to avoid travelling today if at all possible. With the Status Yellow rain warning in place til 3pm, further flooding is possible.

A small number of flights have been cancelled to and from Dublin and Shannon airports today due to Storm Ciara.

The airport operators say weather conditions may also result in some flight delays and are advising passengers to check the latest information with their airline before coming to the airports.

Stena Line cancelled two sailings this morning from Dublin to Holyhead. This afternoon's 2.50pm service has been delayed.

Today's Stena Line sailings from Rosslare to Fishguard today have been cancelled.

Irish Ferries said its services between Dublin and Holyhead are operating as scheduled.

People are being advised to stay away from exposed beaches, cliffs, piers, promenades and harbours.

The Road Safety Authority is asking road users to exercise extreme caution while using the roads due to weather conditions.

Dublin Fire Brigade said a person was hit by a falling tree in Crumlin in Dublin last night and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the National Parks and Wildlife Service has advised the public - for personal safety reasons - not to visit national parks, national monuments or nature reserves while the wind warning is in place.

The Dublin Port Company has closed access to the Great South Wall and the North Bull Wall Bridge.

In sport, racing at Punchestown has been cancelled due to the bad weather.

Today's fixtures in the National Camogie League and the President's Cup final between Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers at Oriel Park have been postponed.

DONEGAL: Heavy flooding on the N14 between Lifford and Letterkenny just at the turn off for Galdonagh. 

CAVAN: A tree has been cleared from the N55 between Cavan and Ballinagh. 

There are reports of excess surface water affecting many regional and national roads throughout the country. Slow down and allow plenty of extra room between your vehicle and the one in front. 

FERMANAGH

Mullaghmeen Rd, Balllinamallard is closed due to flooding.

B80 Tempo Rd, Enniskillen is closed due to flooding at its junction with Gardiners Cross Rd

TYRONE 

Crevanagh Rd Park & Share site, Omagh is flooding. Some cars on site that NEED REMOVED URGENTLY

C602 Lisdivin Road, Strabane has been REOPENED and is passable with care.

B83 Ballymagowan Rd, Clogher is closed due to flooding

B128 Favouroyal Rd, Aughnacloy is closed due to flooding

Gortnagarn Road, Omagh has been flooded by the Strule River at the Stone Bridge.

ARMAGH

B077 Ballygassey Road, Portadown side of Armagh, Road Closed due to land slide.

B31 Newtownhamilton Road, Armagh is blocked by a fallen tree near the Ballymacnab Road. 

DERRY

B40 Draperstown Road, Desertmartin has been REOPENED after an earlier fallen telegraph pole was removed.

U1111 Upper Galliagh Road, Derry. Flooding reported. DfI staff on route to investigate.

DOWN

The Esplanade in Holywood is flooded under the railway bridge. This also gains access to Kinnegar Road.

CONNACHT

MAYO: The Belmullet/Aghleam Rd (R313) is closed due to flooding. Diversions are in place.

ROSCOMMON: Heavy flooding remains on the N61 on the Tulsk/Roscommon Rd. 

SLIGO: There is severe flooding on the Geevagh/Ballymote Rd (R284). Emergency services are on scene. 

LEINSTER

DUBLIN: Heavy flooding on the Nangor Rd in Clondalkin heading towards the Woodford Walk jct. 

There is heavy surface water across the city centre. 

Severe flooding on the Clontarf Rd at Seaview Ave near the Yacht Club.

KILDARE: There are reports of excess surface water on the M9 northbound between J3 Athy and J4 Castledermot.

LAOIS: Gardaí are on route to a fallen tree on the N80 at the Stradbally/Carlow Rd. Take caution on approach. 

MEATH: There is a tree down blocking a road in Kilcloon, just north of Maynooth. Emgerency services are at the scene. 

MUNSTER

LIMERICK: Heavy flooding on the N69 between Robertstown and Foynes northbound. 

A tree has fallen down between Longpavment and Quinpool on the R464. Gardaí are on the scene. 

WATERFORD: The Promenade in Tramore will be closed until later today (9th) due to high winds. 

There are a number of trees down in Ballinakill Ave, Maypark Lane and Fenor. Emergency services are at the scene in all locations. 

KERRY: Heavy flooding on N22 at Clonkeen (turn-off for Kilgarvan (R569).
