East London has witnessed some frightening weather this evening, footage showing debris and bins dragged along streets by powerful winds.

Described by some eyewitnesses as a "tornado", social media has been alight with reports of fences knocked down, and even a wall collapsing.

Taking place in the Barking and Dagenham area of the East End, pictures show grey skies, debris-strewn streets and police cars on sight.

One video shows bins and parts of trees being pushed along a residential street as winds howl.

Reports have emerged of flash flooding in Dagenham from the same cell which produced the Tornado.
