Covid 19 - 10,647 cases now in Ireland with 225 covid 19 cases in Donegal
The Department of Health has reported 31 more deaths from Covid-19 in Ireland.
There have been an additional 527 new confirmed cases which were tested in labs in this country.
And there are another 465 older cases, which were tested in Germany.
This makes a new total of 10,647 confirmed cases in Ireland.
There are now 225 covid 19 cases in Donegal as of Easter Monday.
Here is a breakdown of cases by midnight on Saturday:
- 20% were hospitalised
- 2.8% were admitted to ICU
- There have been 401 clusters, accounting for 1,795 cases
- 26% of all cases are healthcare workers
Six more people have died in Northern Ireland, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related deaths to 124. There are now 1,882 confirmed cases in NI including 76 new ones since yesterday.
Ireland's case fatality rate from Covid-19 is now almost 4%, the latest data shows.
The data published in the Health Protection Surveillance Centre's epidemiology report is based on figures up to midnight on Friday 10 April.
It shows that of the 8,496 confirmed cases of the virus, 329 people had died, giving a case fatality rate of 3.9%.
From this overall figure, 1,777 people were hospitalised (20%), and of these patients, 15% were admitted to ICU (261 patients).
The Health Information Quality Authority is to publish this assessment this week, into the different tests and methodologies available around Covid-19.
This would include looking at anti-body testing, which aims to find out if people may have been infected without knowing and if they're now immune.
The Health Minister Simon Harris said he doesn't expect this report to be a "magic wand solution" but that it would be very "instructive" and give us a view on a range of issues being considered when it comes to testing.
NHS England has announced 667 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 10,261.
Of the 667 new deaths announced today, 118 occurred on 12 April while 537 took place between 1 April and 11 April.
The remaining 12 deaths occurred in March, with the earliest new death taking place on 26 March.
NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death in hospitals in England, often including new deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago. This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem tests to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
The figures published today by NHS England show that April 8 currently has the highest total for the most hospital deaths occurring on a single day - 737 - although this could change in future updates.
