Michael Gallagher has urged public to 'not throw away sun cream'
A Donegal man who has made a name for himself by predicting the weather believes Ireland may still experience a hot summer.
Ex-postman Michael Gallagher last year foreshadowed that we'd have a scorching summer, as well as forecasting the 'big freeze in 2010'.
The June bank holiday weather was a far cry from the heatwave-like conditions that were seen 12 months ago.
But Michael has urged the public to hold on to their sun lotion because he has noticed a "great sign" that things are looking up.
He said: "I would say to people don't throw away your sun lotion yet.
"During the winter time and the spring - we had a very very dry month of spring so of course everything was dried up, grass was burned.
"So nature started to use its power and we got a lot of rain.
"I was on the mountains on Sunday, out on the Blue Stack mountains, and the for the first time in a long time - I'd say the last time it happened to me would be four years ago - it was very very cold.
"It was one of the coldest days ever I saw on the mountains and the old people always say that's a great sign that summer, people think summer's over, summer's not over and things are looking up."

Although he's optimistic about a change in the weather, he says it's hard to put a time frame on when it will occur.
There's still a good part of summer still to come. It's very hard to put a time on it but there is a change on the way.
"It was like winter and the old people always when you get a cold spell with hailstones and thunder, that's a sign of something coming good. And I see there's a change on the way."
