Further falls of heavy snow tonight and Thursday across Ulster and north Connacht with with icy roads

Heavy showers this evening falling as snow in places again have started to give further accumulations of snow leading to icy road conditions.

Air temperatures are currently down to -2C in places with road temperatures as low as -3C across Connacht, Ulster and Leinster leading to prime conditions for icy conditions to form especially across the northwest and north where heavy showers have been falling since Tuesday night. Fresh warnings for snow and ice have been issued this afternoon and showers will become more frequent towards dawn in the north and northwest with some falls of sleet or snow.

On Thursday morning further heavy or longer spells of sleet and snow will move down across Ulster giving accumulations also further inland across Cavan, Monaghan and Louth which have also been added to the weather warning
