High pressure in place for the next 6 days with mostly settled weather and good sunny spells

After a very unsettled week with wet and windy weather and the jet stream sitting over Ireland the weather will start to improve from today with conditions becoming much more settled with dry for weather much of this week but still the chance of some light rain but nothing major.

Good sunny spell will also develop as the high pressure sits across Ireland

The jet stream will move northwards at the end of this week which will also mean any areas of low pressure forming in the Atlantic will also get send northwards above Ireland towards Iceland. High pressure over the Azores will build and move towards western Europe and position itself over western Europe.

Over the week the high pressure system then sits across Ireland and the UK with mostly dry weather for everyone with good sunny spells at times.

On Friday night and Saturday morning a weak weather front may try to move into the western half of Ireland and could give some light rain or drizzle for a time but this clear later in the morning with cloud weather to start but clear spells and sunny sunny periods the developing on Saturday afternoon and evening. Temperatures on Saturday will range between 8C to 11C.

Saturday night will see clear spells developing in many areas and with this there will be the risk of some frost and icy conditions overnight with lows of -1C to 3C coldest in the east and midlands.

Sunday and Monday will see a mix of cloud and sunny spells with no rain both day will be rather nice everywhere but there is a slight risk of a few showers over southern coastal counites on Monday afternoon any rainfall amounts would be small. Temperatures on both days will range between 8C to 12C,

Overnight Sunday and Monday will again see the risk of some frost with lows of -1C to 3C.

Tuesday looks like another rather dry day across much of Ireland with good sunny spells but on Wednesday some light rain or drizzle may effect parts of the country as high pressure retreats eastwards towards Scandinavia

Past next Wednesday there is then some uncertainty. The latest ECMWF has high pressure build again towards the end of next week with dry weather and good sunny spells.

But the GFS weather model is playing with the idea of colder polar Maritime air moving down across Ireland at the end of next week which would lead to the risk of wintry falls of rain, hail, sleet and snow again. But at this stage this is to far out to say and it will be the end of this weekend before we really know of the outcome for next weekend onwards when the rest of the forecasting models including the ECMWF will be in a better timeframe.
