Parts of Antrim & Down hit with bad flooding this afternoon & evening

Heavy rainfall has been effecting parts of Ulster and Leinster today with some isolated thunderstorms also forming across Antrim, Down and Dublin.

Due to the slow movement of these showers and them turning torrential it has lead to big rainfall amounts in east Ulster and parts of east Leinster which has lead to flooding.

In Dublin a Thunderstorm rolled across the country at around 4pm with a possible funnel cloud or Tornado spotted around Dublin Airport but this currently been investigated before anymore can be said.

Across Northern Ireland The Met Office UK issued a Status Yellow Thunderstorm warning for Down and Anrtirm which was in places until 2pm to 5pm. This warning has since ended but parts of east Ulster are still be effected by heavy rainfall which may lead to further flooding.

Belfast was also hit badly with flooding this afternoon and evening with flooding reported on  the A55 Upper Knockbreda Road leading to Forestside and Hospital Road heading towards Hillhall Road and Milltown Road at the Belvior dual carriageway before Shaws Bridge.

It is understood that some of the streets off the Lisburn Road in South Belfast have also been flooded.
