Pier Car Park in Donegal town to be closed on Thursday a Friday due to the risk of flooding
OPW have advised there will be a period of very high astronomical Spring Tides in all coastal areas from Thursday 12th until Friday 13th March 2020 coupled with a storm surge. Notices will be erected at entrance to Pier Car Park, Donegal Town advising motorists not to park there between periods stated.
A area of low pressure will move of the northwest of Ireland on Thursday morning and is the reason a Status Orange and Yellow wind warning has been issued for places.
Across Donegal winds will be strongest with southwest winds veering west to northwest gusting as high as 120k/hr with mean wind speeds of 60 to 75km/hr
Due to a combination of waves, spring tides and surge, the possibility of coastal flooding is increased on Thursday.
The Status orange warning for Donegal will be in place from 08:00 Thursday 12/03/2020 to 12:00 Thursday 12/03/2020
A status Yellow wind warning has also been issued for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Louth, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare for Southwest winds veering west to northwest.
Due to a combination of waves, spring tides and surge, the possibility of coastal flooding is increased along western and northwestern coasts on Thursday.
The Status yellow wind warning will be in place from 04:00 Thursday 12/03/2020 to 18:00 Thursday 12/03/2020
