Storm Evert to effect the south of Ireland and England tonight but turning drier this weekend

A developing low pressure system will move of the south and southeast of Ireland tonight tracking across England over the early hours of Friday morning. The storm was named by the UK Met Office due to the southwest of England set to see strong winds tonight.
The area of low pressure will being some heavy rain across parts of the south and southeast of Ireland with the risk of some spot flooding but elsewhere storm Evert will have no effect across the rest of the island.
Met Éireann currently have a status yellow rainfall warning in place for Cork, Waterford and Wexford which will remain in places until 5am Friday morning when storm Evert will pass.
Lucky for the south of Ireland the winds will be on the southern flank of the storm which will move to the south of Ireland over the sea with the northern flank being heavy rain for a time instead.
In England the UK Met Office have issued a status yellow and Amber wind warning for the southwest "Storm Evert will bring a swathe of very strong winds with coastal gales and severe gales into the Isles of Scilly later Thursday evening, these very strong winds then spreading into Cornwall during the early hours of Friday. Gusts of 55 to 65 mph are likely in coastal areas with a chance of gusts briefly reaching 75 mph in the most exposed coastal spots in Cornwall. Winds then ease Friday morning. Showery rain will accompany these high winds at times, some of this rain heavy.“
The good news is the weather is looking much better for the Bank Holiday Weekend across Ireland with less rain and more in the way of drier weather and sunny spells at time but not wall to wall sunshine.
Some scattered showers are expected early on Saturday morning and the early afternoon but drier weather will follow from the north and northeast early in the afternoon with all areas seen drier weather but Saturday evening with some bright or sunny spells also in places.
Sunday is set to be a largely dry day countrywide with some bright or sunny spells but some cloud in the mix across. Some areas may see some light showers or patches of drizzle to start but largely dry and brighter come the afternoon and evening.
Again Bank Holiday Monday is looking like and another dry day after a small risk of a few light showers or patches of drizzle in the morning. The afternoon looks dry with bright and sunny spells.
