WEATHER UPDATE - LATEST ON THE RISK OF SNOWFALL MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY
On Monday a weather front will pass over the county's bringing rain to all parts over the afternoon on the back edge of this weather system the rain may turn to sleet or snow especially for parts of Connacht and Ulster as much colder air filters behind.
As the area of rainfall, sleet and snow clears on Monday evening/night and Tuesday Morning heavy wintry showers will follow with falls of hail, sleet and snow leading to accumulations over parts of the west, northwest and North especially over higher terrain and lower levels areas inland. Some areas may only see temporary dusting leading to dangerous conditions on road with ice forming. Areas across the northwest could see snowfall on the ground for a few hours especially over the Tuesday morning period.

I expect totals of around 2cm to 6cm for some but also note that some areas any see nothing at all with showers falling at sleet and hail. Along with the snow risk on Tuesday morning there will be a clearance with clear sky's and it well turn colder with temperatures dipping to around -2C to 2C leading to icy stretches on roads.

Weather warnings may be issued over the coming hours especially for the northwest, west and north of Ireland
Upland areas and mountains should be avoided if necessary , Along with cold temperatures a bitter windchill will also come into factor.
