STRONG WINDS BATTER PARTS OF SCOTLAND THIS AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS OF 125KM/HR AND 195KM/HR OVER HIGHER PEAKS


Damage caused by 70 mph winds - a caravan lifted from a field near Dornoch and blown across the A9, thankfully nobody was inside.

After light rain and drizzle and gusty winds across western and northwestern parts of Ireland this morning the afternoon seen much drier conditions with some sunshine for some parts to finish the evening. it was also a rather settled day across England and Wales today also but a lot of cloud around too.

For parts of Scotland it is a different story where there has been some gusty winds over the afternoon as a area of low pressure passed close to the north of Scotland over the afternoon and tonight bringing some strong winds to some parts especially northern parts. Already there has been gust over 100km/hr recorded some northwestern, northern and northeastern parts of Scotland.

The Met Office UK WEATHER WARNING reads

Very strong winds are expected to affect northern and parts of eastern Scotland on Monday and Monday night. Gusts of 65 to 75 mph are likely, particularly in the far north and northeast, before winds gradually ease from the west during Tuesday.

On the peak of Cairngorm a gust of 195km/hr was recorded , The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland closely associated with the mountain of the Cairn Gorm , The gust was recorded at altitude of 1245 meters
