temperatures climbing as high as 25C this weekend and early next week with some sunshine
A spell of wet and windy weather will effect Ireland on Wednesday moving of the Atlantic over the later stage of the morning moving eastwards across Ireland over Wednesday afternoon. Across the west and northwest of Ireland rainfall will be heaviest with 20mm+ possibly falling across Kerry,Clare, Limerick Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal with the highest amount across higher ground areas. There will also be the risk of some spot flooding in these areas on Wednesday. Winds will also become strong and southwesterly in direction.
Rain will clear eastwards across Ireland quickly on Wednesday afternoon and evening with dry and clear conditions developing for many areas with the odd patch of mist or drizzle possible. Winds will ease a little and become moderate and veer to a more southerly position.

Thursday will be a mainly cloudy day everywhere with showers occurring across the west and north elsewhere it will be dry with some sunny spells possible across the south and east of Ireland but overall mainly cloudy for all. Temperatures on Thursday will range between 17C to 22C.
On Friday high pressure will start to build from the south with warm conditions for Friday with temperatures rising to 25C with lows around 18C, Warmest temperatures will be inland on Friday away from coastal parts. Friday will see some bright and sunny spells to over the day but sunshine will tend to be hazy, the day will be dry nice and warm.
CONTINUES BELOW
Over this weekend Saturday the 24th of August and Sunday the 25th of August the big area of high pressure then looks set to sit over Ireland at around 1019 millibars, one thing to note is that the Atlantic pattern still is not far away but looking at the Ecmwf model shown below it shows high pressure strengthen over the early stages of next week with very warm and dry weather across Ireland and the UK and this pattern would also lead to nice sunshine.
Charts below shows the high drifting eastwards over over the following week with a warm south to southeast flow.
Both Saturday and Sunday will be warm day with temperatures again between 18C to 25C with some sunny spells but some cloud around to with sunshine becoming hazy at times, it will be mainly dry for much of Saturday and Sunday but there will be the risk of some light rain showers at times over the later afternoon and evening stages these mainly across the north.
It will be interesting as week head into the next week to see how this plays out because many of the weather models are going for this which is a good sign. The Ecmwf model looks the best of the model runs between it and the GFS weather model which i have attached below.
Currently going by the ECMWF model next week will be warm with nice sunshine with temperatures in the low to mid 20s.
One of the reason for this potentially late summer spell of weather is due to strong tropical storm over Asia which send a ripple along the jet stream. Tropical storm Krosa over the northwest Pacific which has downgraded from a typhoon moved northwards over Japan and then over eastern Russia manage to bump into the jet stream sending a ripple along the jet stream in a easterly direction last week. This ripple is like when you have a rope and flick it and it sends a ripple along it.
When tropical storm Krosa bumped into the Jet Stream it send a ripple the whole way across the pacific Ocean to the USA and further eastwards across the Atlantic ocean towards Ireland where the jet stream will be located to the north of us. This ripple will then divert the jet stream further northwards away from Ireland allowing high pressure to build from the south bringing warmer and drier conditions.
FARMING NOTE
CONNACHT AND ULSTER
For farmers looking to do silage from Friday 21st of August to next Tuesday the 27th of August looks the best of the day with dry conditions, Some light showers may be possible on Saturday afternoon in parts of Ulster but these will not do much harm. Thursday will see scattered showers over the day in Ulster and Connacht so conditions for cutting will not be great.
LEINSTER AND MUNSTER
For farmers looking to do silage in Leinster and Munster from Thursday the 22nd of August to next Tuesday 27th of August looks the best of the days with dry conditions, Thursday will be a dry day in both provinces but mainly cloudy
