TURNING VERY COLD TONIGHT WITH ICY STRETCHES ON ROADS - COLDEST NIGHT OF 2019
Overnight it will turn very cold across Ireland with less wintry showers than what was seen last night and this morning. All national roads have been cleared of snow now and most roads should be fine across the west, northwest, north and the midlands. There still is some lying snow on secondary roads and over higher ground roads today so be extra careful if you are out and about today.
Overnight conditions will turn very poor again with the main factor tonight been icy. with the recent snowfall over the last 24 hours and slushy conditions on roads this will lead to slippery conditions on roads and black ice to form due to melting snow refreezing.
Over night will see temperatures drop to as low as -5C with highs of around 1C, It will be coldest across Ulster with the highest temperatures over Munster. All parts will be at the risk of icy conditions.
Temperatures could dip lower for a time over snow covered areas which cold be the coldest night of the year so far.
