WEATHER UPDATE - FURTHER SNOWFALL TO EFFECT ULSTER THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT
Monday night into Tuesday morning seen the first proper snowfall this winter across parts of Ireland with western, northwestern and northern areas worst effect and a few cm on the ground this morning. Over the coarse of this morning and this afternoon further showers moved into northwestern parts of Ireland over Donegal falling as rain, hail and sleet over coastal areas and snowfall as these heavier showers pushed eastwards across Ulster giving further accumulations of snowfall over the day. Some roads across Ulster today are in poor shape due to the recent snowfall with icy conditions and slushy conditions as snowfall melts.

Over the rest of the evening and into tonight showers will continue to move in from the Atlantic turning to snow over higher ground and some lower levels areas too leading to further accumulations and icy conditions so be extra careful on the roads tonight especially across Ulster where showers will be more wintry.
later this evening and tonight showers will turn increasingly back to hail, sleet and snow tonight again across the west and southwest of Ireland for a time leading to slippery or icy conditions forming on roads as temperatures drop to around -3C to 2C overnight.
