MOTORISTS URGED TO SLOW DOWN AND BE CAUTIOUS OF FALLING TREES AND BRANCHES ON ROADS THIS MORNING

Untitled.jpg

I would urge motorists to slow down and be cautious if taken to the roads early this morning due to the adverse weather conditions across west Munster, Connacht and Ulster. There all ready has been report coming in this morning of loads of broken branches lying on roads in parts and the risk of falling trees is also possible due to the severe wind gust this morning which have been gusting over 100km/hr in parts.

Trees this time of year act like big sails due to them been in full leaf so it easier for the wind to catch them and bring them down.

Winds are now peaking across Connacht this morning and will peak across Donegal after 4am when storm hector passes by the peak will last for up to 2 hours when wind will be at there strongest. Across the rest of Ulster winds will peak 4am to 8am.

As shown in the latest gusts recorded across Ireland since 12am winds strengthen further east  over Connacht and the northwest as well as Ulster. charts below show gust recorded in the last 4 hours.
