High pressure building over the rest of the week to give good sunshine and dry weather for most

See this social icon list in the original post

The weather across Ireland is set to become a lot more settled over the coming days as a area of high pressure builds to the north of Ireland pushing the jet stream southwards keeping all the areas of low pressure to the south of Ireland which normally gives us wet and windy weather.

The areas of high pressure to the north is also referred to a blocking high or northern blocking and these blocks can remain in place for several days or even weeks, causing the areas affected by them to have the same kind of weather for an extended period of time.

If this was the Month of December then we would be looking at very cold days and nights with frost along with wintry showers of snow. Such blocking during late November, December, January and February can lead to very cold weather like the winter of 2010.

This time week the blocking high will instead give dry weather for most areas with good sunny spells from at this stage Tuesday until Saturday at least and after that there is some uncertainty. Also note that there will be a few isolated showers around from Tuesday to Saturday but rainfall amounts will be below 1mm or 2mm for many.

One thing is for sure is to make the most of this fine and settled spell of weather because at this stage there looks like there could be a change to the weather from Sunday into early next week with the current forecast model runs from the ECMWF and GFS showing the blocking high be pushed away with the jet stream moving northwards towards Ireland again directing wet and windy weather towards us next week with the possibility of stormy conditions also but is also to say that’s why above I used the term uncertain at this stage after Saturday.
