STRONG WINDSTORM FOR IRELAND AND THE UK ON FRIDAY

This Friday a strong wind storm is expected to cross Ireland as a area of deep low pressure moves in of the Atlantic

There will be a risk of strong to severe gusts especially along coastal areas where gusts could gust up to 120km/hr to 130km/hr for a time across the southwest, west and northwest of Ireland with gusts of 90km/hr to 110km/hr elsewhere . Along with strong winds there will be heavy rainfall leading to very difficult conditions on road Friday.

These winds will lead to large waves affecting coasts and the possibility of waves overtopping some coastal routes, especially in the west and south of the warning area. In addition, bands of heavy rain sweeping eastwards on Friday in particular will present an additional hazard.

Winds will be southwesterly in direction and strong to severe across Ireland and the UK.

A yellow weather advisory for stormy conditions has been issued with warnings likely to follow.
