7 day rainfall forecast outlook for Ireland 16th June 2021
Rainfall amounts over the week gone by where well below average across much of Ireland. Amounts range from trace 0.2mm to 22mm.
The most rainfall was recorded at the Met Eireann weather station at Belmullet, Mayo with 22mm.
The least amount of rainfall was at Met Eireann Weather Station at Dublin Airport with 0.2mm.
The east and midlands were the driest parts of Ireland in the last 7 days
The southwest, west and northwest received wettest weather over the last 7 days
Over the next week rainfall amounts will be be just below average across the southeast, east and midlands however across the southwest, west and northwest rainfall amounts are signaled to be just above average. Elsewhere rainfall amounts will be average.
Thursday 17/6/21
Thursday will see bright and sunny spells but some scattered showers are also expected in places with some of them showers heavy in the west and northwest. Some parts of the east and southeast will remain rain free with the most rainfall amounts across the Connacht and west Ulster with up to 5mm in places coming in the form of showers
Friday 18/6/21
Overall Friday is forecast to be a rather dry day across Ireland with most areas stating dry. A small chance of a little drizzle in the far west but overall mainly dry there also. The day will see a lot of cloud around but some bright and sunny spells in places also with the best of these in the eastern half of Ireland
Saturday 19/6/21
At present much of Saturday is set to remain dry away from the far west and southwest of Ireland. Rain is forecast to move in from the Atlantic on Saturday evening mainly effecting western Connacht and much of Munster. Overnight light rain and drizzle will effect most of Connacht and Munster but the lastest signals are for Ulster and Leinster the stay dry until after midnight however that rain may nudge its way into western ulster before then but at the moment that is not the case. Over all rainfall amounts of up to 5mm are expected in parts of Munster and west Munster up until midnight.
Sunday 20/6/21
Sunday is forecast to be a wet day across the whole country with showery rain. Rain fall amounts will vary depending on where you are located. A weather front across the west of Ireland which will bring rain will stall with another weather front moving up from the southeast on Sunday. Some areas will see as much as 5mm and other areas up to 20mm of rain. Keep a eye on the national forecast on our website closer to the time for a more precise forecast closer to Sunday.
Monday 21/6/21
Monday at present is forecast to be another showery day across Ireland with some of the model outputs showing the potential for heavier showers across the south and southeast with the risk of spot flooding and isolated thunderstorms. There is some uncertainty on the outcome so keep a eye on the national forecast which will update on this daily. The latest ECMWF shows some areas of Munster and south Leinster possibly seen as much as 25mm.

A dry day is indicated for much of Wednesday before more rain moves in from the Atlantic during the evening and night
WEEKLY RAINFALL AMOUNTS EXPECTED BY PROVINCES
ULSTER
Across much Ulster rainfall amounts are expected to be below average this coming week. Highest amounts will be across west and northeast Ulster mainly across Donegal and Antrim over the higher ground areas with between 10mm to 20mm expected there. Across the rest of Ulster amounts will range between 5mm to 15mm.
CONNACHT
Rainfall amounts across Connacht this week will range between 10mm to 40mm with the highest amounts possibly across west Connacht
MUNSTER
Away from west & south Munster rainfall amounts are expected to be below average this coming week. Highest amounts will be across west Munster mainly across west/south Kerry & south/west Cork over the higher ground areas with between 20mm to 40mm. Across the rest of Munster amounts will range between 5mm to 20mm lowest amounts in the east Munster.
LEINSTER
Overall Leinster will be the driest province this week with only between 5mm to 20mm. Highest amounts across the mountains there.
