Europe Weather News
An unstable Atlantic circulation is driving cooler air currents over France, with sharp thermal contrasts with warmer sub-tropical air that are triggering strong and vast storms.
In the north-west of France, a particularly violent storm in the early afternoon today generated a tornado that hit the town of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil , a small commune located in the Indre-et-Loire department.
Damages, still to be quantified, are also reported in the surrounding fields and in the precious vineyards of the area. Fortunately, however, there are no victims or injuries.
The town has suffered extensive damage, with falling trees, poles, damage to buildings. Serious damage in particular to a church , whose bell tower was literally torn by the force of the wind and part of the roof collapsed. The roof of the town hall was also torn open .
