Donegal 10 days and Sligo 15 days with no new Covid 19 cases

Some good news again this Bank hoilday Saturday is that County Donegal has now gone 10 days without any new cases of Covid 19.

Co.Sligo leads the way with no new cases reported in the last 15 days followed by Kerry who have had no cases in 12 days.

Two more people have died here from Covid-19, it has been confirmed by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC). 

There have now been a total of 1,652 coronavirus-related deaths in Ireland.

The HPSC was also notified of 66 additional confirmed cases of Covid-19. There is now a total of 24,990 confirmed cases of the disease in Ireland.

The Health Service Executive is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.

The latest detailed data from the HPSC is from midnight, Friday 29 May (relating to 24,924 cases) and this reveals that the median age for people who contract the disease remains 48 with 57% of these cases being female and 43% male.

A total of 3,283 people (13%) have been hospitalised and of those, 408 have been admitted to ICU. There are 7,963 cases associated with healthcare workers.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 12,042 (48% of all cases) followed by Cork with 1,477 cases (6%) and then Kildare with 1,416 cases (6%).

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 39%, close contact accounts for 58%, travel abroad accounts for 2%.

There has been one further coronavuris-related death in Northern Ireland, taking the official Department of Health death toll there to 523.

There are seven new confirmed cases of Covid-19, taking the total cases in Northern Ireland to 4,716. So far, 52,297 people in Northern Ireland have been tested.
