A number of emergency services are assisting with a large rescue/release operation at Mount Leinster, on the South Carlow and Kilkenny border. Several vehicles have become trapped & there are reports of some minor collisions. No injuries are reported. Incident ongoing.

BLACK ICE WARNING
Wet roads and low air/ground temperatures tonight and on Friday morning will lead to icy stretches forming on roads again in places with lows of -2C to +3C. A band of rain, sleet and snow will clear the southeast and east later. Highest risk of icy conditions will be inland away from coastal regions. Many higher ground areas are still icy from rain, sleet and snow from yesterday and across the eastern half of Ireland today and should be avoided.
