Ex Tropical storm Sebastien arrives to Ireland Tuesday morning - A Storm in a tea cup

There has been a lot of talk in the media over the past few days about Ex Tropical storm Sebastien hitting Ireland with a bang.

Sebastien is currently located around 800km of the southwest of Ireland and will arrive after midnight tonight and on Tuesday morning with the main risk been flooding in the south of Ireland.

Sebastien will lead to wet and windy weather with heavy rain for a time with winds been gusty and strong but noting major.

Ex Tropical storm Sebastien will move close to the southwest and south coast on Tuesday before clearing to the east over Wales and England on Tuesday night and Wednesday losing its intensity.

Strong and gusty winds across the southern half of Ireland particularly around coastal counties of the southwest and south where winds will gust between 60km/hr to 110km/hr strongest of these winds will be around the counties of Kerry and Cork especially along coastal areas. Elsewhere winds will gust between 30km/hr to 70km/hr with these winds been less intense across parts of Ulster.

Winds along south and southwest coasts will reach gale force on Tuesday.

The main risk will be rain leading to flooding across the south and southeast and possible flooding around Cork at high tide.

The first of the rain (the outer band) will arrive around midnight or just after and push northwards on Tuesday morning. Rain will reach the central half of Ireland around 8am Tuesday morning and then the northern half of Ireland later in the morning.

This rain will clear to the north rather quickly on Tuesday afternoon with drier and brighter weather extending northwards over the afternoon and evening.

Over the later stages of the afternoon and evening another band of rain close to the center of Sebastien will leading to heavy falls of rain across Kerry and Cork.

Overnight rain will ease over Kerry but linger around Cork with heavy falls, Rain also over other southeastern counties overnight and clearing Wednesday morning,

Much of Ulster and Connacht on Tuesday evening will be dry with some clear spells

Wednesday to Friday at least looks much better with a lot of dry weather and bright and sunny spells with only some showers around and the weekend also looks decent for many areas away from the southern parts of Ireland where some rain is likely on Saturday .

It will also turn colder again on Thursday with frosty conditions expected Thursday night with temperatures dropping as low as -3C to -2C coldest across the east, north and west. Friday night will also be cold with the risk of frost and temperatures as low as -2C. Cold and frost nights also expected over the weekend.
