Good news for Donegal 13 days with no new Covid 19 cases

County Donegal has now gone 13 days without any new cases of Covid 19 which is very positive for the northwest as Co.Sligo leads the way with no new cases reported in the last 18 days.

County Kerry have had no positive cases in 15 days.

Wexford have had no positive tests in 14 days.

The Department of Health has announced that a further three people who had previously been diagnosed with Covid-19 have died.

It brings the overall death toll to 1,659.

The Department has also announced an additional 47 confirmed cases of the virus, bringing the overall total of cases here to 25,111.

Validation of figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre have led to the denotification of two deaths, and two confirmed cases.

The latest figures from the department show that of the 25,064 cases confirmed as of midnight last Monday, over 3,298 cases – 13% - have been hospitalised.

Of these, 409 cases have been admitted to ICU.

The number of confirmed cases among healthcare workers has surpassed 8,000, accounting for nearly 32% of cases.

The median age of cases remains 48, with a split of 57% female and 43% male.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 12,093 (48% of all cases) followed by Cork with 1,517 cases (6%) and then Kildare with 1,419 cases (6%)

Speaking at this evening's briefing, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the National Public Health Emergency Team will meet tomorrow to continue its review of Ireland’s response.
