Turning even Colder on Sunday and early next week with Arctic air and snow showers

The latest outlook is for high pressure to then drift to the west of Ireland on Sunday out over the Atlantic which will open the door for a northerly airflow to develop and cold air to move right down across Ireland next week with the source of the cold air coming from the Arctic.

The latest outlook shows a very cold air source coming down from the north on Sunday and Monday and lasting possibly into midweek.

The cold air move north to south rather quickly from the Arctic which means by the time it reaches Ireland with will not be to modified meaning much of the cold source will still be there with upper air temperatures of around -10C this will mean Later Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Tuesday some areas will be at risk to heavy snow showers along with some snow accumulations.

Another scenario might be that the high pressure just moves a little to the west keeping the weather mostly dry but cool in a northerly airflow.

The outcome will depend how far west the high move into the Atlantic the further out it moves the more risk of colder conditions and wintry falls of snow.

I will have another update midweek
