Ireland set for a long period of dry and sunny weather next week with high pressure building

The good news is if you enjoy nice dry and sunny weather much like we have been seen the last few days well there is more on the way with another area of high pressure set to dominate the weather next week again. First we have to get Saturday, Sunday and Monday out of the picture which will see some rainfall in places.

Turning unsettled this weekend

FRIDAY 16TH APRIL 2021

Cloud increasing from the west Friday morning with a cloudy day everywhere later in the morning and over the afternoon some light rain or drizzle looks set to effect Connacht, west Munster and west Ulster but staying dry elsewhere .

Dry for many areas on Friday night with a mix of cloud and some clear spells some mist a fog will form in places due to the calm conditions.

SATURDAY 17TH APRIL 2021

Saturday will be a dry day for much of the country but across western parts rain and drizzle move in around midday slowly moving in to west Ulster and west Munster over the afternoon and evening. Across the east it will stay dry with mostly cloudy weather. Temperatures will range between 8C to 12C.

Cloudy overnight with the latest outlook showing outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the southwest, west and northwest but it may stay drier further east for a time overnight.

SUNDAY 18TH APRIL 2021

Outbreaks of rain on Sunday across Ireland with cloudy conditions everywhere with the heaviest of that rain across the west and northwest but generally amount will be small with some parts of the east and southeast staying dry on Sunday. Temperatures will range between 7C to 12C.

Further outbreaks of rain overnight Sunday heaviest across the west and northwest with rain spreading to all areas later in the night.

MONDAY 19TH APRIL 2021

Monday will see rain spread west to east across Ireland heaviest across the west and northwest. Rain will eventually clear to the east overnight Monday with drier conditions moving in from the Atlantic

Turning drier from next Tuesday the 20th of April

From next Tuesday the latest outlook is for the weather to turn more settled again with high pressure building across Ireland again. The latest outlook is for bright and sunny conditions.

High pressure builds over Ireland and just to the north next week with drier conditions and good sunshine. The latest outlook is for southeasterly winds which would mean temperatures will be that bit warmer also around 10C to 15C.

Long range forecast for the rest of April

The long range forecast outlook look rather good on the ECMWF and GFS models showing a nice end to April with high pressure dominating the weather.

Early May Outlook

The week between 26th of April and 3rd of May has high pressure to the north of Ireland and lower pressure to the south. The ECMWF long range forecast show still rather dry weather moving into the first few days of May the GFS forecast models also backs this idea up for now.

No real warm weather is expected over the rest of April into early may with temperatures around normally for the time of year in the mid teens possibly into the high teens later in the month
