**Much colder conditions looking more likely to end the month**

Following on from our earlier update at the weekend about the potential chance of colder conditions to end November and to start December we are continuing to see that trend and confidence is now higher as we get closer to the time frame.

Starting this weekend we are likely to start getting colder nights with frosty conditions with the potential for overnight temperatures dropping as low as - 3C.

**Blocking high pressure out to the west of Ireland over the Atlantic keeping low pressure systems away from Ireland and allowing cold air to move down from the north**

Over the coming 7 day the weather will be much drier which I think at this stage will be much welcomed by all. We currently have a blocking high pressure system which will position itself over western Europe and that will ridge up towards Iceland which will open the door for a more colder northwestertly to northerly airflow which will also bring a fall in temperatures.

Over next week we can expect some frosty night along with some fog.

There will be some showers but rainfall amounts in general will be rather low.

Flood gates could open to allow even colder conditions through the first week of December

As we move into the first week of December and of the meteorological winter some models are showing a potential colder spell with a more north to northeast airflow developing.

If this was to happen we would be looking at overnight lows in places of around -5C possibly lower with some wintry showers also possible especially across coastal counties of the north. With sea temperature a little warmer than normal for this time of year that would aid shower activity with some potential falls of snow in places.

There is also the risk of colder conditions in place and weather fronts of with rain moving over the country bring wintry falls also.

Over this weekend we should have a better understanding on how the start of December will play out.
