Risk of frost and icy conditions overnight as temperatures drop as low as -2C
Tonight Monday it will turn cold with temperatures near freezing or below. Temperatures overnight and new years eve morning will drop as low as -2C in places with highs of 7C.
Overnight and new years eve morning frost will form mainly over northern parts with the risk of some icy roads.
Black ice could be a issue on some wet roads on Tuesday morning so beware of slippery road conditions and never assume even when a road has been gritted that it is ice free.
Note even with air temperatures around 2C to 3C ground or surface temperatures can be much lower and below freezing allowing ice to form.
Across the southern half of Ireland temperatures will be as high as 7C with cloudy conditions with some rain and drizzle.

New years eve day looks set to be a rather nice day with spells of Sunshine across Ireland with dry conditions for many areas but only the small risk of showers across the southwest and south coastal counties during the day.
Temperatures on the last day of the year will range between 6C to 10C not as warm as this weekend but still temperatures around average or just above in some places for December
For new years evening and night it look set to start of dry with some clear spells with the risk of some frost with temperatures as low as 1C possibly lower in some places first with highs of around 5C.
Some mist and fog will also form in places.
