SNOWFALL UPDATE / YOUR PHOTOS - Heavy snow continues this morning in places
As predicted by Donegal Weather Channel this week Saturday mornings snowfall risk would be more widespread and disruptive than Thursday with many areas across the west, north and east seen snowfall.
Many areas have seen accumulations this morning with some areas seen as much as 5cm with areas within or orange risk issued yesterday seen between 5cm to 10cm
The band of snow continues to clear to the northeast this morning with further heavy falls of snow until early this afternoon across east Ulster. Drier weather is moving in from the west for a time with snow now cleared Connacht and Leinster.
Many where also reporting strong winds overnight which where in the yellow warning criteria with a max gust of 90km recorded in the 97km/hr at Malin head. A yellow warning is issued when wind gust between 90km/hr to 110km/hr and a orange warning is issued for wind which is when gusts of 110km/hr to 130km/hr are likely. A red warning is then issued from 130km/hr upwards.
Why did the winds feel much stronger?
Winds overnight felt much stronger due to the direction they where coming from which was the southeast which is rather rare.
Strong winds again on Sunday
Further strong winds are expected on Sunday with status Orange and Yellow wind warnings in place

South to southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h with severe gusts in excess of 110km/h in the west. Where winds are onshore, there is a risk of coastal flooding.
