Ireland weather News

The good news is that an Azores high pressure system looks locked in on all the weather forecast models. The American, European, UK Met office, Canadian and Chinese forecast models are just some to name a few that show an Azores high pressure build from the south over the middle and end of this week.

Some very warm conditions are expected at the end of this week especially over the weekend of the whole country with the chance we also may see even warmer weather early next week.

THURSDAY

Below you will see the ECMWF weather model run which shows the center of the high pressure sitting over west and northwest of Ireland on Thursday with the start of the much warmer weather starting to move in but also note the airflow is also important and where it comes from which will determine which areas across Ireland see the warmest weather. On Thursday the south and east will see temperatures in the low 20s to mid 20s across some southern counties, however due to where the high pressure center is at this time it will be cooler across the northwest with high of around 16C to 20C coolest near the coast.

FRIDAY

On Friday higher pressure will slowly keep drifting to the northeast with a warmer day again forecast across the country and at this stage good sunny spells in places also. Temperatures will range between 19C to 25C possibly 26C on Friday in some places

WEEKEND SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

This weekend Ireland is set to sit right under the Azores high pressure system which is good because with the high pressure system sitting right across the country it would mean slack breezes with good sunshine across the whole country. The latest forecasted temperatures from the ECMWF and GFS show that temperatures will rise between 21C to 28C warmest in the west and northwest this weekend. The warmest temperatures of 2021 now look likely over the weekend with Sunday looking the warmest of both days.

The latest ECMWF & GFS weather forecast model show parts of Galway, Donegal and Derry possibly been warmest this weekend. But this will become more certain as we get closer to the weekend.

As we head into the early day of next week the high pressure is then forecast to shift to the northeast over Scotland and that also would mean that the airflow would be southeast in direction which is perfect for Ireland as this set up brings us some of are warmest weather over the summer Months as we still remain under high pressure. Below some of the temperature outputs from the ECMWF can be seen for the early days of next week which is only 7 days away. If the high pressure does drift towards Scotland then there is a good chance of 30C been recorded at a weather station early next week.
