A developing low pressure system is expected to bring further strong winds to Ireland Wednesday evening, night and Thursday morning but the good news is that the low pressure system at present does not look as deep as it was showing on models over the weekend where it was showing very high impact winds. Some strong winds will still be possible especially across western and southern counites where some winds may gust as high as 120km/hr with a Orange level wind warning possible for some counites most likely Clare, Kerry, Cork & Waterford and depending if the low tracks a little further north then also Galway and Mayo.

As the low pressure system clears to the east on Thursday much colder air will move in behind it with a very showery set up also expected. The air mass is a polar Maritime air mass which will give wintry falls to places with mostly rain, hail and sleet to lower level but some snow also look on the cards later next week over high ground areas as the below image shows. Purple indications wintry falls of hail, sleet and snow. Some thunderstorms activity also looks possible.

The longer range forecast then indicates high pressure will build again after next week with a return to much drier conditions and also warmer and sunnier weather bringing back the spring like weather.
