With sunshine for most areas this evening and showers starting to fizzle out it will become dry in all parts overnight with good clear spells across Ireland. Winds over night will fall light and it will turn cold with temperatures dropping below freezing in many areas.

Temperatures tonight will range between -3C to 2C with a sharp frost developing in places along with icy patches possible on roads especially across the northwest and north where some heavy showers have been affecting the areas today.

Monday looks set to start of cold with any frost and ice clearing over the morning, There will be good sunny spells to start on Monday but cloud again will increase over the afternoon and extend to all areas by the evening. Temperatures will range between 6C to 9C.

On Monday evening a spell of rain will move into the west and northwest extending across Ireland overnight but breaking up and becoming lighter as it moves eastwards.

Tuesday St.Patrick’s rain will extend in from the Atlantic over the afternoon with heavy falls across the west and north of Ireland with the risk of spot flooding. Rain will then extend southeastwards overnight with drier and clear weather developing from the northwest overnight. It will also turn cold overnight with lows at present of around 2C so staying just above freezing.

Midweek temperatures will be in single figures by day for many with temperatures below freezing at night with the risk of frost.

Towards the end of next week at present it shows temperatures possibly rising into the low to mid teens with good dry and sunny weather nationwide as the higher pressure strengthens.

It will be really next Thursday onward into next weekend when we see the pattern change.
