It is set to turn much colder tonight and over the weekend with frost which is a bit of a shock to the system considering that last week the weather was very warm with many parts of Irelands seen temperatures into the low 20s but this week already temperature have dropped to a cool 0.8C in the northwest of Ireland recorded at the Castlederg weather station in Co.Tyrone.

Temperature the last 2 mornings both on Thursday morning and Friday morning have been at freezing level in parts of the northwest with frost recorded.

Coldest parts of Ireland this weekend will be Ulster and Leinster where temperatures could drop as low as 0C to -3C in inland areas away from the coasts which could give a good ground frost.

Farmers and Gardeners should be alert for frosty conditions this weekend which will see below average temperature for the time of year for Ireland. Most areas will be 2 to 3 degrees below normal

clear across Ulster and north Leinster overnight but still cloudy across the Connacht, Munster and south Leinster with rain & drizzle effecting parts west Munster for a time . Cold overnight with below average temperature for the time year with lows of -1C to 7C with the risk of frost. Coldest across the north and east warmest across the southwest and west.

Saturday 26th September 2020

Starting dry and cold on Saturday morning with the risk of some frost in the north and east with bright & sunny spells away from the southwest where it will be cloudy. Saturday afternoon and evening will see bright and sunny spells nationwide and it will be dry with high pressure sitting over the country. Temperatures will range between 11C to 15C.

It will be dry overnight with clear spells but some mist and fog forming also and it will turn cold with frost in many places with temperatures between -3C to 5C.

Sunday 27th September 2020

Some bright and sunny spells to start on Sunday with mist, fog and frost clearing but cloud increasing from the west with cloudy conditions furing the later morning stage and over the afternoon with some rain and drizzle along Atlantic coastal counties over the afternoon and evening. Warmer than previous days with Temperatures between 13C to 17C coolest in the northwest and warmest in the southeast.

Some light range and drizzle will push west to east across Ireland overnight. Temperatures will range between 9C to 13C.

Next week
