Turning warmer at the end of the week with temperatures as high as 19C
The end of march finish of much drier and calmer than what it start with record breaking high pressure positioning itself of the northwest coast of Ireland over the last weekend of March with new records broken for air pressure.
High pressure weather dominated from Wednesday 18th. By Sunday 29th March, a MSLP of 1051.2 hPa was observed at Malin Head, Co Donegal (over 29 days the pressure rose 73.1 hPa) and an atmospheric pressure of 1051.9 hPa was recorded at the M4 62093 Donegal buoy. These are new provisional March and buoy records. The previous highest March MSLP at a land station was 1047.1 hPa, which occurred on Tuesday 13th March 1900 at Valentia Observatory in County Kerry
The new week will see the weather turn that bit milder again with temperatures rising into the mid to high teens near the middle and the end of next week.
There will be a lot of dry weather around during the week but it will not be rain free with some heavy showers at times and cloudy periods.
MONDAY 6TH APRIL 2020
Rain will clear to the east over the Irish sea early Monday morning with southwest winds easing. Monday will see a mixture of bright and good sunny spell but some showers also to start but these easing over the afternoon and evening with sunny spells nationwide. Temperatures will range between 10C to 13C.
Dry overnight with good clear spell to start but some cloud in areas later on. Temperature will range between 1C to 3C.
TUESDAY 7TH APRIL 2020
Tuesday looks set to be a dry day with some brighter spells but some cloudy periods also with the best of any sunshine across Munster and Leinster with cloud across north connacht and west Ulster increasing later in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures between 11C to 14C.
Overnight will see cloudy weather across the northwest of Ireland with some light rain and drizzle elsewhere there will be a mixture of cloud and clear spells with any clear spells best across the east. Temperatures will range between 3C to 7C.
WEDNESDAY 8TH APRIL 2020
Wednesday will be a warm day with bright and sunny spells but some cloudy around also a times. It will feel warm in any sunshine with temperatures between 13 to 17C.
Dry on Wednesday night with a mixture of cloud and clear spells with temperatures between 5C to 8C
THURSDAY 9TH APRIL 2020
Thursday will be another warm day with only small amounts of sunshine, The day looks set to be a mainly cloudy day for many areas. The last model run from the ECMWF shows rain moving in from the southwest around midday spreading slowly eastwards over the afternoon and evening and not reaching eastern areas until night time. Temperatures will range between 15C to 19C feeling warmer in any sunshine.
OUTLOOK
The outlook for Friday is for rain to clear over the morning to the east with drier weather following behind but still staying mostly cloudy. Past Friday there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast but there is signs it could turn warmer and drier again with high pressure building.
