A small Asteroid crashed into earth tonight which went undetected

On Friday night a small Asteroid which was only detected hours before by astronomers crashed into earth which was reported to be around 9:22pm irish time. The small Asteroid posed no danger and crashed into the sea.

We often here of meteorites burning up in our sky's but asteroids are even rarer and thankfully it wasnt a large one.

This heavily processed section of a Meteosat image that can be seen around 22:28 CET could show the aftermath of the airburst of a few meters small asteroid over the North Sea off the Norwegian coast, which an Aurora webcam seems to have seen on the ground shortly before: an earth hit with announcement, because the approaching body – later named EB5 in 2022 – had been discovered almost an hour earlier.

One Astronomer had pointed out a quarter of an hour before the impactcalculated for 22:23 CET, which does not quite match the Meteosat event. Either way, it was the fourth time since 2008 TC3 that a safe impactor had previously been detected by telescopes while still in space . [23:45 CET on March 11, 2022]

An asteroid is a small rocky object that orbits the Sun. Asteroids are smaller than a planet, but they are larger than the pebble-size objects we call meteoroids. A meteor is what happens when a meteoroid – a small piece of an asteroid or comet – burns up upon entering Earth’s atmosphere, creating a streak of light in the sky.

Asteroids are smaller than a planet, but they are larger than the pebble-size objects we call meteoroids. Most asteroids in our solar system are found in the main asteroid belt, a region between Mars and Jupiter. But they can also hang out in other locations around the solar system. For example, some asteroids orbit the Sun in a path that takes them near Earth.
