Further falls of sleet and snow with icy roads tonight
Over this evening showers will continue to affect Ireland with these heaviest across the west and northwest where some of these showers will fall as sleet and snow but rain also in places.
for some areas it is a fine margin when it comes to seen snowfall due to the air temperatures and dew point temperatures which are slightly above in some areas which will mean showers will tend to be a mixture of rain and sleet but some areas are currently cold enough with snow falling at present this afternoon.

At present air temperatures in parts of the west and northwest are between 0C to 2C with the lowest temperatures at present this afternoon around Knock Airport where the temperatures sits at 0C.
Dew point temperature are also between 0C to 2C in places across the west and northwest and will drop further as the evening goes on as well as a drop in air temperatures in other places would mean them rain and sleet showers turning increasingly to snow later.
Any showers over higher ground will mainly be snow but some low ground areas could see a dusting of snow also tonight but as I mentioned the last few day not all areas will see snowfall.

The main risk tonight will be icy roads due to how wet some roads are and as soon as it gets dark this evening road temperatures will drop below 0C for many areas with the risk of ice leading to slippery conditions.
