In what is one of the busiest weekends of the year the August bank holiday weekend and many people throughout Ireland staying in the country this year on there stay cation due to Covid 19 many have traveled to Donegal and other northwestern counties to get a piece of what they have to offer.

Just yesterday Sunday Bundoran, Co Donegal seen some of the largest crowds in the town in years with tail backs coming from Ballyshannon and Sligo Direction nearly 5km or more long which lead to Gardai at one stage having to turn cars back.

On of the largest beaches in Donegal, Rossnowlagh beach over looks the stunning Donegal Bay also seen a large amount of visitors with a number of vehicles reported to have gotten stuck on the beach this weekend due to people not paying attention to the tides which can come in very quick. Today a number of cars have gotten stuck again.

Rossnowlagh beach claims more cars a year than any other beach in Ireland and is a regular occurrence. During the peak of the first wave of Covid 19 Donegal County Council closed the beach after it was jammed packed over the Easter bank holiday weekend with cars, ice cream vans and food trucks. Locals have been calling for years and most recently for the council to close the beach for cars to make it a safer environment for people to enjoy.
