VIDEO CAPTURES TWO MASSIVE CRUISE SHIPS COLLIDING IN MEXICO HARBOR

A pair of Carnival cruise ships have rammed into each other in the harbor of Cozumel, Mexico, causing damage to both vessels.

The collision happened around 8:50 Friday morning, according to WPST. The Carnival Glory was coming into the dock when it was pulled into the Carnival Legend, already moored.

The Carnival Glory had left its home port of New Orleans Friday for a seven-night voyage, WPST reported. It was scheduled to officially dock in the Port of Cozumel, a popular destination for cruise ships, at 10 a.m. High winds were making navigation difficult in the harbor, and the ship's pilot was unable to avoid the other boat, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The aft port side of the Glory impacted with the bow of the Carnival Legend, scraping away the outside of two of the Glory's dining rooms.

As it rebounded and began heading out of port, the Glory then narrowly missed colliding with another cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas.

Bystanders captured the entire event on video from multiple angles. In the first clip below, passengers on the Oasis begin to panic as they see the Glory begin to veer toward them. Warning: this video does contain some explicit language.

Carnival is still investigating the conditions that led up to the crash.

The company says that the accident has not impacted the seaworthiness of either ship, as all damage appeared to be above the waterline. All scheduled sailings for both boats will proceed as normal.

The passengers aboard both Carnival ships were encouraged to deboard and spend the day in Cozumel as was originally scheduled in their itinerary.

Measuring 952 feet long, the Glory is a Conquest-class cruise ship that was launched in July of 2003. At a cost of $500 million, it boasts two pools, a waterslide, 22 bars and lounges and a separate children's entertainment area. It is one of the larger ships in Carnival's fleet, and was refurbished in 2012, according to Carnival's website and Beyond Ships, a cruise information website.
