STORM DARRAGH INFORMATION
Storm Darragh has been named by the Met Office UK and a status Red warning has been issued for Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway, Clare and Wexford for winds gusting in excess of 130km/hr with the potential for gusts of up to 160km/hr. An orange warning has been issued for the whole island of Ireland for winds gusting between 110km/hr to 130km/hr with the risk damaging gusts expected later Friday night into Saturday morning.
Worst effected counties will be western, northwestern, northern and southeastern counties.
I expect this storm to be a high impact with winds coming from the northwest, I am expecting widespread power outages Friday night into Saturday with alot of trees coming down and potential damage to buildings.
Power outages will occur in many areas on Saturday morning as the storm passes across Ireland
Coastal flooding and damage will occur along all coastal areas
The public should avoid exposed beaches, cliffs and piers, harbour walls and promenades along the coast during storm conditions on Sunday morning up until Monday morning and not put your life at risk as well as others at risk.
Heavy rainfall is also expected across the western and northern half of Ireland ireland with some Localised flooding possible especially with soils still waterlogged in some parts. A status Yellow - Rain warning is in place for for Clare, Connacht, Ulster, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath from Friday morning 10am to Saturday 12pm.
Anyone planing to travel by air or sea later Friday night into Saturday morning there is likely to be some disruption and it would be important to check in before travelling .
